Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident near Lagos on Monday, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The boxer had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, representatives had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.

A Tribute to the Fallen

Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two dear friends.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the sports world had expressed sympathy for the fighter in the following the devastating accident.
